I'm not an expert teacher or lecturer of chemistry. I was only a student from SMA NEGERI 15 SURABAYA who had been one of the Bronze Medalist Participants of Olimpiade Sains Nasional X (2011) of Chemistry In Manado, North Sulawesi, 11 - 16 September 2011 and graduated in 2012. Now, I'm studying at Universitas Airlangga in Surabaya, Indonesia. I do love chemistry and I would like to help them who had difficulties in studying chemistry. Reagen Grignard

Reagen Grignard (Baca: Grinyard) dinamakan sesuai oleh penemunya dengan tujuan mensisntesis alkohol dari senyawa dengan gugus karbonil. Reaksi ini harus berlangsung tanpa air karena reagen Grignard akan langsung terhidrolisis apabila terdapat air dalam sintesisnya.

Rumus umum Reagen Grignard adalah: R – MgX. Dengan R adalah gugus alkil, dan X adalah gugus halida.

Sintesis Reagen Grignard dengan Reaktan Kloroetena:

Apabila Reagen Grignard bereaksi dengan senyawa dengan gugus lepas yang kuat, maka:

Apabila Reagen Grignard bereaksi dengan senyawa dengan gugus lepas yang lemah, maka:

Berikut adalah Daftar reaksi senyawa karbonil terhadap Reagen Grignard:

1. Metanal --> Alkohol Primer
2. Aldehid --> Alkohol Sekunder
3. Keton --> Alkohol Tersier
4. Ester --> Keton à Alkohol Tersier

Bagaimana apabila Reagen Grignard bereaksi dengan air?

Karena itulah pembuatan Reagen Grignard harus dalam kondisi bebas air (Biasanya digunakan Eter Kering).
